InvestorCrypto.net - In anticipation of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 2024, the digital wallet OVO predicts a significant increase in digital transaction volume, especially as a payment method for Grab services and various other services.
Eddie Martono, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of OVO, revealed that they had previously conducted a survey through the Grab application to 1,283 users in Indonesia who celebrate Eid. This research was conducted in January.
The results of the survey, summarized in the Lebaran Grab report, showed that 84% of respondents are willing to increase their digital activities during Ramadan.
72% plan to use Grab services for food delivery and payment transactions, while 86% prefer to shop online for their families. In addition, 79% of Grab users, including vehicle users, choose Grab for its convenience during special moments.
"It is projected that there will be a 19% increase in weekly passengers compared to before Ramadan. This trend tends to increase towards Eid, with a surge in airport travel occurring from the third week onwards, coupled with the busy routes due to the tradition of returning to hometowns to gather with family," said Eddie on Thursday (21/3/2024).
Eddie also mentioned that the report indicates an increase in mobility using online transportation services, household shopping, goods delivery, and money transfers that will contribute to the growth of digital transactions and the use of OVO.
Welcoming the month of Ramadan, OVO has also launched an attractive program using gamification with cashback and prizes through the OVO Shoptakuler Super Catchback program.
The more transactions made with OVO, the greater the chance of winning attractive prizes such as OVO points worth hundreds of millions of Rupiah, motorcycles, gadgets, holiday vouchers, and more.
"With the participation of millions of users in the previous programs, we are confident that we will see a significant increase in participation," Eddie added. In addition to projecting an increase in digital transactions during Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 2024, Eddie also expresses optimism that this trend will continue to grow throughout this year. This is in line with the rapid growth of digital payments that have been observed throughout 2023.
"This provides a positive outlook for this year as in previous years," said Eddie. Eddie also added that in line with Bank Indonesia's projections, the growth of digital transaction value is expected to reach 23.2% in 2024 or around Rp71.584 trillion.
QRIS also contributes to this growth, with transactions increasing by 149.5% year-on-year, reaching Rp31.65 trillion in January 2024, with the number of users reaching 46.37 million and merchants 30.88 million, especially from micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
"The innovation and integration of digital payments in daily needs have placed OVO on a sustainable growth path and are expected to help increase digital transactions this year," concluded Eddie.
